trustserv.de is my little private project — a “secure” communication platform for me and my friends, and a way to share resources, since I don’t need a server with that much bandwidth all to myself.

It’s not a “public” service in the usual sense. It’s a service for me and (new) friends. Whether I hand out an account is entirely up to me. Self-registration has been closed since 2016, after a number of accounts were created and abused for spam — if you would like an account, just ask.

Because this is a service for friends, nothing hosted here runs tracking, profiling, or marketing mechanisms of any kind. The one automated system that touches your mail is the spam filter; the privacy policy describes exactly what it does.

This server also doubles as my personal playground for learning — sometimes reinventing the wheel, sometimes building something new. ;)

Hi, I’m Oli. I work in DevSecOps and have been in IT for about 30 years, mostly around C, Java, and Linux, with a strong focus on automation. I hold a Master’s degree in Wirtschaftsinformatik (business informatics).

trustserv.de is where that professional background meets a personal hobby: running my own mail server, my own Matrix homeserver, and generally building the things myself that most people would just rent from someone else.

Self-hosting isn’t only a hobby for me, it’s a bit of a statement too. In a world where your data more often than not ends up as someone else’s product, I’d rather run my own infrastructure and know exactly where things sit and who has access. That’s really what trustserv.de is about: doing it yourself, on your own terms.
